使用PC-3000FLASH读取低电压NAND芯片的方式

使用PC-3000FLASH读取低电压NAND芯片的方式
In 2018 our we received a lot of new NAND chips that were unreadable by the PC-3000 Flash reader of versions 1.0, 2.0 and even 3.0 without extended power supply adapter. Why that is the case, we will explain in today’s article!https://i0.wp.com/blog.acelaboratory.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/New-Project.png?resize=640%2C336&ssl=1As you all know, ONFI NAND chips usually require 3.3V. It’s a standard voltage value, which was used by default on almost all NAND Flash for the last 15 years. Some of NAND crystals have two circuits – one for NAND Core (VCC), and another one called VCCq for NAND buffers (I/O interfaces, other sub-controllers and so on). If you have ever worked with voltage controls and tried to make a readout of the chip, most likely you are already familiar with that. In such a case you are better to split circuits and drop down only VCCq values while VCC should always stay at 3.3V.But we found out that most of the new Micron chips now require 3.3V for VCC and only 1.8V for VCCq! So, when you put the NAND into the reader, you are not able to read even the ID of the chip without changing the voltage for VCCq to 1.8V.Below is the list of NAND chips that require 1.8V for VCCq instead 3.3 (valid as of January 2019):
[*]Micron 6WB2D_NW817 – 0x2CA46432 (32768MB per part)
[*]Micron MT29F384G08EBHBB – 0x2CB47832 (49152MB per part TLC 3DNand!)
[*]Micron MT29F2T08CUHBB – 0x2CC4E532 (65536MB per part)
[*]Micron MT29F3T08EUHBB – 0x2CCCF932 (98304MB per part TLC 3DNand!)
[*]Intel 6WB2D_NW817 – 0x89A46432 (32768MB per part)
You can find these chips in BGA-152/132 package only! Also, please note that BGA-132 is thinner than BGA-152, and as the result, you will need to position the NAND directly in the middle of the adapter, exactly like on the picture below:https://i0.wp.com/blog.acelaboratory.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/BGA.png?resize=640%2C451&ssl=1Otherwise, reading of NAND will be impossible due to the bad contact connection! So, here’s what you do if you get one of the listed chips. You leave VCC on 3.3V and set VCCq to 1.8V in PC-3000 Flash reader settings. Please note that Voltage Control is only possible on PC-3000 Flash 4.0 with Integrated Power Supply Adapter and on PC-3000 Flash 3.0 with External Power Supply Adapter.https://i1.wp.com/blog.acelaboratory.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/PC3K.jpg?resize=640%2C382&ssl=1Example:During the NAND reading attempt, we get an error, as if the chip is not installed into the adapter socket, or, maybe, ID is incorrect:https://i0.wp.com/blog.acelaboratory.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/w1.jpg?resize=640%2C456&ssl=1We need to follow – “Options -> PC-3000 Flash parameters“:https://i1.wp.com/blog.acelaboratory.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/w2.png?resize=640%2C433&ssl=1Then – “Power adapter control“:https://i1.wp.com/blog.acelaboratory.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/w3.jpg?resize=634%2C510&ssl=1Here are default settings:https://i2.wp.com/blog.acelaboratory.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/w4.jpg?resize=473%2C318&ssl=1We need to change them to:https://i0.wp.com/blog.acelaboratory.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/w5.jpg?resize=473%2C318&ssl=1Finally, we will be able to read the NAND ID correctly:https://i0.wp.com/blog.acelaboratory.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/w6.jpg?resize=640%2C433&ssl=1In case of any trouble with new Micron/Intel chips, feel free to submit a ticket in our
